Arrived to Kuala Lumpur

It is Sunday, March 29th and Scott and I have just gotten home from Church.  We met a lot of nice people who seemed very excited that we would be in KL for the next three years.  They never said a word about General Conference so I guess they don't get that here.  We meet in a beautiful building that once belonged to the Spanish Embassy.  

We are getting acclimated to the time change, which is a good thing since I start work tomorrow.  Tomorrow will be a long day!!!!

We have a very nice sponsor.  Ann and Charlie took us out all day yesterday.  We went to the big KLCC mall.  Where they showed us where to eat and the grocery store, clothing, etc.  She still has so many things she wants to show me.  Right now it is all a bit overwhelming, but exciting.  We had a delightful dinner at a local restaurant with Ann and Charlie and some other people from the Embassy.  So much fun.  We had a guy there, Bill, order for us.  He ordered the tandoori chicken, yum and some garlic flat bread called nan.  It had a curry dipping sauce that I loved.  It was such a pleasant night and the company was so enjoyable.  These people have lived all over the world and are very interesting.  I sat in awe of their stories.  What a different life this will be.

We met so many nice people at church.  We had a combined Priesthood and Relief Society meeting.  The Branch President  wanted to get a count of the different nationalities in the room today.  I was so amazed at the different nationalities that I wrote them down:  Indian, American, Chinese, Ghanian, Tanzanian, Pakistanis, Nigerian, Sri Lankan, Flipino, and of course Malaysians.  Absolutely amazing.  They have accents, so I have to listen very carefully so that I can understand what they are saying to me.  A young man led the music, and another one played the piano.  They were great.

The food is terrific.  I have been having so much fun at breakfast.  They have a complimentary buffet, and it seems to be set up for Americans, Chinese, Japanese and Indians.  It is absolutely delicious.  I had a noodle soup yesterday that I picked all my ingredients and they cooked it up for me.  This morning they made me a dish that had vegetables wrapped in a crepe with sauces and peanuts added.  It was so good.  I also had a dumpling today that I added seaweed to it and it was good.  I have tried cheese dumplings that were to die for, and cheese quiches that melted in my mouth.  It has been a ball to try some really different foods.  They also have century eggs that I must admit I just have not had the courage to eat.  Maybe I'll get brave to and try one. They look horrible.  The fruit is the BEST.  The watermelon is so sweet and juicy.  I had a mango today that also was very, very good.  Scott and I eat a huge breakfast and then try to have a light meal at night.  We kind of got off track last night at the dinner we went to with the Embassy people.  Man, that food was good a plentiful.  

This already is a fantastic experience.  Hate to mess it up by going to work but oh well, someone has to pay for all this.
